What is the news?
The Italian head coach has insisted that he has the intention to stay on at Juventus despite the club’s ten point deduction in the Serie A. With Juventus looking to miss out on European football, rumours of Allegri leaving the club in the summer had intensified. On Sunday the Italian coach spoke with DAZN and insisted that he wants to stay on at the club beyond this season.
What did Allegri say?
After their 4-1 defeat at Empoli, Allegri told reporters the following on his future: “It would be cowardly for me to abandon Juventus at this moment. I am disappointed tonight because it was an opportunity, but I also cannot reproach the team for anything, because it has been a continual chasing down of situations.”
The backstory
A disastrous 4-1 defeat at Empoli on Sunday was followed by the verdict that Juventus will be given a 10 point deduction in the Serie A. The club has been found guilty for inflating player values in the transfer market to boost their financial possibilities. The deduction and the defeat have dropped Juventus to seventh position in the Serie A and the club is looking to miss out on European football for next season.
