What is the news?
The Gabon striker posted a message on social media platform TikTok on Sunday and in the clip he picked Camp Nou as his preferred next destination. Rumours of Aubameyang wanting to return to Barcelona have been present in the media in recent weeks and the forward has now ended the discussion by publicly revealing his desire to return to Barcelona.
Is a Barcelona return realistic?
Barcelona could be interested in re-signing Aubameyang this summer, but only if the Gabon striker can be signed on a free transfer. His current contract at Chelsea expires in the summer of 2024 and the Blues could demand a transfer fee. However, since Aubameyang has only featured in 15 games this season and the fact that Chelsea need to clear out a large part of their squad, it would not be impossible for them to decide to terminate his contract.
Aubameyang joined Barcelona during the second half of last season after he collided with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta. The forward then made an instant impact at Barcelona and helped the club secure a second-place finish in La Liga with some excellent performances. The Spanish club then decided to sell Aubameyang after the arrival of Robert Lewandowski, which led to the striker signing a two-year contract at Chelsea.
