Lamine Yamal became the youngest ever LaLiga player and FC Barcelona player after the youngster made his debut for the club on Sunday. The forward came on as a substitute in the second half as Barcelona beat Real Betis 4-0. After the game head coach Xavi told reporters he was delighted to see the youngster make his debut and that he is expecting a lot from him in the future.
Xavi said, “I told him to try things and he did. He was close to scoring and he also created well. You can see that he is a special player and that he can become very big. He is a differential player, with the final pass, he is not afraid of anything, he has an innate talent. He can mark the future of the club.”
Looking back on the 4-0 win over Betis, Xavi said. “Yes, after a defeat we needed to react. We started well with dynamism and playing fast. After the sending off, the game went our way and we scored two goals to put the game to bed. It’s a pity we couldn’t have scored more goals even though we tried.”
