- Barcelona want Joshua Kimmich
- Lewandowski has to persuade German
- Bayern not interested to sell
What is the news?
Various reports from Germany and Spain have claimed that Barcelona are trying to convince Joshua Kimmich to join them this summer. The LaLiga champions will be saying their goodbyes to veteran midfielder Sergio Busquets after the season and Kimmich has been marked as an ideal replacement. The 28-year-old versatile German has not yet pondered to leave Bayern just yet, but Barcelona hope to convince him to join his former teammate and good friend Robert Lewandowski.
What did Lewandowski say about Kimmich?
The Polish striker, who left Bayern to join Barcelona last year, told Tomas Wlodarczyk he would love to see his former teammate join the Spanish club. “I would say to Joshua Kimmich that coming to Barcelona is worth it. The environment here is different than in Bavaria. They are two big clubs, but everything is different. Of course the daily life, the language, the experience, the challenges…everything.”
The backstory
Kimmich joined Bayern in 2015 in an 8.5 million euro transfer from VFB Stuttgart. Since joining the German record champions, Kimmich has played a total of 346 matches. The now 28-year-old developed himself into one of the best and most versatile midfielders in the world and he is often praised for his style of play. His contract at Bayern runs until the summer of 2025, meaning Bayern could demand a full transfer fee. Kimmich is valued at around 80 million euros, but it is expected that Bayern would not be prepared to accept any offers below 100 million euros.
