Bayern Munich is willing to part ways with three star players this summer to restore balance in the squad, according to BILD.

  • Bayern considers selling trio
  • Club aims to raise €200 million
  • Tuchel given freedom to invest

What’s the news?

According to the German publication Bild, Bayern Munich wants to prevent a repeat of the 2022/23 season and plans to invest heavily in the squad. The club has given Thomas Tuchel the freedom to convince the board that a new rejuvenated group of players can compete for titles. Three players have been mentioned as potential departures: Sadio Mane, Serge Gnabry, and Leroy Sane.

The backstory

None of these players managed to impress during the past season and, according to Bild, they may also have had a negative attitude in the dressing room. Sane and Mane were also involved in a fight with each other during the season, with Mane allegedly striking his teammate in the face.

What more?

A departure from Bayern would be significant for Mane, as the Senegalese player has only been with the Rekordmeister for one season. The former Liverpool forward had a promising start to his adventure in Bavaria but failed to meet expectations due to injuries and loss of form. Bayern paid €35 million for Mane last year and would reportedly accept around €25 million to sell him this summer.

What’s next?

Bayern is determined to avoid a repeat of the 2022/23 season at all costs and is planning significant investments in the squad. Several names have been linked to the club, with Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane at the forefront. The German powerhouse is eager to find a worthy replacement for the departed Robert Lewandowski, who joined FC Barcelona, and reportedly sees Kane as the ideal candidate.
