- Tuchel wants squad revamp this summer
- Bayern still in title fight with Dortmund
What is the news?
Both Sadio Mane and Joao Cancelo have no future at Bayern and it is expected that both players will leave the club this summer. Mane was signed last summer from Liverpool for a rough 30 million transfer fee, whilst Cancelo joined Bayern on an initial six month loan from Manchester City with the possibility of signing the defender for a fixed 60 million euros in the summer. Bayern head coach Thomas Tuchel isn’t planning on using the duo next season and has told the board to say their goodbye’s to Mane and Cancelo.
The backstory
Tuchel is already working on a squad revamp at Bayern for next season. The German coach want to rejuvenate his squad and use Bayern’s budget to sign several high profile youngsters instead of planning a big-name signing. Cancelo is looking to return to Man City this summer, but the Portugal international is determined to find another club after he fell out of the plans of Pep Guardiola. Mane has been linked with Chelsea and Newcastle United in recent weeks.
What next for Bayern?
At the moment Bayern are engaged in a heavy fight for the Bundesliga title with league rivals Borussia Dortmund. With two round of the season remaining, Bayern hold a one point lead over Dortmund. Bayern host RB Leipzig this Saturday before making the trip to play FC Koln. Dortmund, meanwhile, travel to Augsburg on Sunday and will close the season at home against FSV Mainz.
