What is the news?

Both Caicedo and Mac Allister have been in great form for Brighton this season and their good run has increased the number of admirers. Whilst Brighton is keen to hold on to their star players, De Zerbi has now admitted that the club could be losing both of their star players.

What did Zerbi say?

Talking to Sky Sports, De Zerbi said: “For sure, we will lose some players. Maybe Caicedo, maybe Mac Allister. We have to be ready to bring in other good players. For the likes of Kaoru Mitoma and Pervis Estupinan, I think for them the best solution is to stay with us. I don’t know if they are ready to play in the big teams yet. We can offer them the opportunity to progress and improve.”

The backstory

Interest in the duo has been high since January and it is expected that both players will remain active in the Premier League. Caicedo has been on the shortlist of Arsenal for over a year and Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool have also looked at the Ecuador international. Meanwhile, Mac Allister has been high on Jurgen Klopp’s wanted list for this summer and there have even been rumours that the Argentinian international has already agreed personal terms with the Reds.
