Evan Ferguson has officially put pen to paper at Brighton, extending his stay at the Seagulls until the summer of 2028. The Irish striker is enjoying his breakout season in the Premier League and he has been one of Brighton’s outstanding performers this season. The club then decided to reward Ferguson for his stunning season and also making sure they will be able to keep their star player on board beyond this season.

Brighton statement on Ferguson’s contract

On Brighton’s official website they posted the following statement: “Evan’s contract extension is great news. He trains and plays like a senior player with many years of experience and has become an important member of the squad. The aim is to help him become one of the strongest strikers in Europe.”

The backstory

Ferguson was signed from Bohemians in 2021 by Brighton and the now 18-year-old forward has been impressing in the Premier League. He has scored nine goals for Brighton this season and provided four assists. His performances for Brighton alerted several teams in the Premier League, including Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

What next?

Ferguson will not play for Brighton as the club will be looking for revenge against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday after they were trashed 6-1 by Everton this week. The striker is recovering from a foot injury, which he suffered in Brighton’s 2-1 win over Chelsea.
