Brighton & Hove Albion are open to the idea of selling Moises Caicedo but only if their valuation of the player is met, reports 90min.
What is the news?
Brighton are aware that Caicedo could be one of the hottest players on the summer transfer market and even though the club is reluctant to sell, they are realistic enough to know that every player has his price. There are several big Premier League clubs interested in the Ecuadorian, including Chelsea and Arsenal. Both clubs could be interested in making an offer for the midfielder after the season and Brighton could be open to sell. However, interested clubs will need to pay at least 80 million euros to sign Caicedo.
The backstory
Brighton are having a dream season in the Premier League this year and the Seagulls are close to grabbing a ticket for next season’s Europa League. The good performances of the club have awakened the interest in many of their players, with Caicedo and Alexis MacAllister being the hot favourites to make a transfer. While Brighton isn’t keen on selling two of their key players this summer, the club could be earning around 150 million euros for two players they have invested around 15 million euros in.
What next?
Brighton are in the drivers seat in the situation of Caicedo. The midfielder signed a new multi-year contract until the summer of 2027 this February and the Seagulls even have an option to extend that deal to 2028. Brighton therefore have the power to only accept a bid for their star midfielder if their own valuation of the player is being met. Meanwhile, Mac Allister is looking to complete a transfer to Liverpool soon. The Argentinian could move for a fee between 70 and 80 million euros to the Reds.
