Chelsea expect to confirm the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as soon as next week after the contract talks between the two sides have reached the final stages. Terms between the two parties were already agreed in the first week of May and it is now believed that there has been an agreement on the details, including the backroom staff and hierarchal structure.

Chelsea handled the process of selecting a new manager with care and the Blues held talks with several candidates, including Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann. Pochettino then emerged as a leading candidate and the former Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur boss was quick to reach an agreement.
