Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino have reached an agreement on a multi-year contract per next season, various reports from England have claimed.
- Pochettino to become new Chelsea boss
- Four year contract will be signed
- Announcement expected this week
What is the news?
Chelsea expect to confirm the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as soon as next week after the contract talks between the two sides have reached the final stages. Terms between the two parties were already agreed in the first week of May and it is now believed that there has been an agreement on the details, including the backroom staff and hierarchal structure.
Chelsea handled the process of selecting a new manager with care and the Blues held talks with several candidates, including Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann. Pochettino then emerged as a leading candidate and the former Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur boss was quick to reach an agreement. It is believed that Pochettino will sign a four year contract at Stamford Bridge.
The appointment of Pochettino is expected next week and will be a boost to Chelsea fans after yet another disappointing result in the Premier League against Nottingham Forest (2-2). Once Pochettino has been appointed, the new manager will be focusing on next season, lining out the squad and team he wants to build. A lot of changes are expected at the club, especially in terms of outgoing transfers.
