Chelsea have serious problems saying goodbye to Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian attacker was rented out to Internazionale last summer with an option to buy and with that the Londoners hoped that Lukaku would stay in Milan. Now, however, Inter has indicated that it does not want to sign the attacker in the summer, which means that Chelsea now has a problem.
The Blues want to clean up the selection considerably next summer and a departure from Lukaku to Italy was already been taken into account in the background. However, the Belgian is experiencing a dramatic season in Italy and has not yet been able to convince. In addition, Inter itself also wants to save on wages and it seems impossible that they want to take over Lukaku’s high wages.
This leaves Chelsea with a major problem. Lukaku is one of the top earners at the club and it is not expected that the striker will get a new chance at Stamford Bridge next season. The question is will Chelsea succeed in finding an interested club that can meet Lukaku’s expectations on the one hand and Chelsea’s transfer requirements on the other.
