  • Agent is looking for new club
  • Newcastle United still interested

What is the news?

According to a report written by MARCA, Ronaldo has seen enough of Saudi Arabia and his club Al-Nassr. While the report claims that the Portuguese super star is not unhappy in the Middle-East, but that he simply misses Europe and the higher level of footbal. It has been suggested that Ronaldo has instructed his agent to make contact in Europe to try and find a new employer for next season.

The backstory

Ronaldo completed a transfer to Al-Nassr in January after his contract with Manchester United was terminated during the World Cup in Qatar. The former Real Madrid striker signed a highly lucrative contract with the Saudi Arabian club, but rumors quickly surfaced that the attacker was out for a quick exit. Since the arrival of Ronaldo, the club lost the battle for the league title to Al-Hilal, was eliminated from the cup competition and failed to impress in the Asian Champions League. Despite this, Ronaldo is on target for his new side and has already scored more than ten goals.

What next for Ronaldo?

If Ronaldo actually wants to leave Al-Nassr this summer, the forward will have to pay a significant compensation to the Saudi club. This makes a transfer rather unlikely. However, there have been rumours about Newcastle United in recent weeks. The Magpies will return to the Champions League after 20 years next season and it is believed that the Saudi owners of the club would want Ronaldo to play for Newcastle next season. There have also been rumours of Ronaldo returning to Portugal to play for his beloved Sporting Portugal.
