Former player agent Josep Maria Minguella isn’t too impressed with FC Barcelona wonderkid Gavi. The future of the talented Barcelona midfielder is under pressure after the LaLiga organization declared Gavi’s new contract void. This means that the midfielder is currently free to negotiate with other clubs and that he could leave Barcelona on a free transfer this summer.
Spanish outlet AS reported that Gavi has attracted the interest of several clubs in Europe, including a number of Premier League teams. One of those English teams is Chelsea. It is even written that a delegation from The Blues recently spoke with Gavi’s management in Madrid. This is where the first contact would have been made and Chelsea would have indicated future plans in order to convince Gavi to come to London.
While many Barcelona fans would rather not see Gavi leave their club, Minguella thinks otherwise: “What does Gavi bring to Barça’s build-up play? Gavi is not a player for Barca,” said the former agent. Meanwhile, Barcelona are doing everything they can to have Gavi’s new contract validated. In this way, the club will keep the youngster on board until the summer of 2026.
