Eden Hazard has given his fans an update on his short-term future plans at Real Madrid. The Belgian winger’s contract will expire in 2024 and Hazard is planning to sit out his contract next season.
- Hazard want to stay at Real Madrid
- Winger has only played 30 minutes in LaLiga
- He earns 400.000 euros per week
What is the news?
Hazard joined Madrid as the replacement of Cristiano Ronaldo but due injuries the former Chelsea star has failed to live up to the expectations of the fans. This season the left winger has only played 30 minutes in LaLiga and has been mainly sitting on the bench. Due to his limited input at Madrid, there is a chance that the club would like to get rid of him this summer. However, that is not the case with Hazard himself, who would like to serve out his contract that expires in 2024.
What did Hazard say?
Hazard was brought on the broadcast of Cadona Cope, a popular radio station in Spain, and had a short but powerful message on his future with Madrid. “Do I want to finish my contract? Off course. It was a difficult year for me, but things like that happen in a team as strong as this one. I want to play more and I know it won’t be easy. I have to work hard,” said Hazard, who also said his relationship with Ancelotti and the rest of the team is ‘good’.
What will happen to Hazard?
At this point it is unclear what Madrid want to do with Hazard. The now 32-year-old is one of the club’s top earner with a smashing 400.000 euros-per-week. Since he joined from Chelsea, the input of Hazard has been minimum. In recent weeks Hazard has been linked with several clubs across Europe, including Newcastle United and his former clubs Chelsea and OSC Lille.
