- Messi back in training with PSG
- Unclear if forward will be available for the next match
- PSG are six points clear at the top of Ligue 1
What is the news?
A week after his controversial trip to Saudi Arabia, the forward has returned to full training with the club on Monday. Last week the Argentinian flew to Saudi Arabia after PSG lost to FC Lorient (1-3) on Sunday. Messi did not have permission to make the trip and that caused quite the stir on social media. It was suggested Messi would receive a two-week suspension but apparently PSG have decided to cut back the suspension to just one week.
After PSG’s loss to Lorient, Messi traveled to Saudi Arabia for ambassador trip to Saudi Arabia for Monday. With that the World Champion ignored the decision of Gaultier to train and travel to the Middle East. Fans of the club responded furiously on the news and demanded his departure. It was then suggested that Messi could indeed have played his final game for PSG as the club was expected to suspend the forward for at least two weeks. After Messi released a video on social media, the club has decided to end the suspension.
What will happen now?
PSG have not made any comments or statements on the suspension of Messi and may well be possible that the Argentinian will be available for the club’s next match. Despite Messi’s return to training, it seems very likely that the forward will leave at the end of the current season once his contract has expired. FC Barcelona are hoping Messi will return, though the forward also has options in Saudi Arabia and the United States.
