Manchester United and Manchester City are interested in Internazionale defender Alessandro Bastoni, writes Fichajes. The Italian defender is approaching his last contract season in Milan and could therefore be sold by Inter next summer. The Italians would like to keep the defender and are in talks with Bastoni and his management to extend the contract.
The question is whether Bastoni is open to a longer stay in Milan or whether he wants to go for his chances in the Premier League with one of the two superpowers from Manchester. Both clubs would like to strengthen the back line and would find Bastoni a more than interesting option, mainly because of his contract expiring in 2024. That would mean Inter could not ask full price for the Italian international.
At City, Bastoni would replace Aymeric Laporte, who has definitively lost the competition at the back of City to Nathan Aké. At United, Bastoni would mainly count as an upgrade compared to Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof. Both central defenders have been told by Erik ten Hag that their chances of playing time will decrease considerably next season.
