Both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have been left disappointed by Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson. The Irish wonderkid has been impressing in the Premier League this season and that led to the interest of most top teams. However, Ferguson seems to be staying with The Seagulls next season as he prefers a longer stay ahead of a top move to the top of the league.
Ferguson managed to catch they eye of almost every top team in Europe after he made his debut for Irish club Bohemians at the age of 14 in a friendly against Chelsea. In the end, Brighton managed to land the striker and in Engeland his development continued. This season he been his major breakout season and on top of that he became the youngest goalscorer in 25 years when he scored for Ireland earlier this year.
The talented striker saw the interest increase and it was expected that both Man United and Tottenham would be leading the race for his signature this summer. The Daily Telegraph reports that manager Roberto de Zerbi has managed to convince Ferguson to extend his stay at Brighton for at least one more season and on top of that the striker will sign a new long-term contract at the club.
Nevertheless, a transfer of the talented striker has not yet been completely ruled out. United are interested in Spurs striker and England captain Harry Kane. And if the former top striker moves to Old Trafford this summer, Tottenham are expected to make a move for Ferguson. With an expected transfer fee that will surpass the 100 million euros mark for Kane, Spurs will have some funds available to sign Ferguson as his replacement.
