Manchester United are considering a move for Internazionale goalkeeper Andre Onana is David de Gea decides to not renew his contract at Old Trafford. The Spanish goalkeeper has been in talks with United over a new deal over the past few months but an agreement is still far away. United boss Erik ten Hag has made Onana a possible target if the club needs to sell De Gea at one point.
De Gea’s current contract runs out in the summer of 2023 but United have an option to extend the deal with one more year. However, the goalkeeper currently is one of the club’s and the Premier League’s highest earning players and United is keen on lowering the wages for the 32-year-old as the goalkeeper is nearing the end of his career. Meanwhile, De Gea isn’t looking to happy with the offer from United and has been stalling the contract talks.
Italian outlet La Gazzeta dello Sport now reports that United has made a first contact with the management of Onana. Ten Hag knows Onana from their time at Ajax and the 27-year-old developed into one of the best goalkeepers in the world in Amsterdam under the Dutch boss. Even though Onana has battled himself in the starting eleven at Inter, the Cameroonian would not want to miss out on the chances to join United during the summer.
