Lionel Messi reportedly already made up his mind on his Paris Saint-Germain future before he made the trip to Saudi Arabia, Goal reports.
What’s the news?
Lionel Messi’s future at PSG is currently hot news. The Argentine was suspended by his club for a trip to Saudi Arabia and subsequently much was written and said in the media about his future in Paris. However, it now appears that Messi had long decided to leave PSG after this season, GOAL and Fabrizio Romano reveal.
Due to a sponsorship deal, Messi had to travel to Saudi Arabia earlier this week. However, this was not agreed with his club and was not approved by his coach Philippe Gaultier. PSG then decided to suspend Messi for two weeks and also withhold two weeks of his wages. This would mean that Messi could not return to action for PSG until the end of May, but it was already suggested that the attacker had already played his last game for the French giant.
What’s next for Messi?
The question now is where Messi’s future lies. He has often enough been linked with a return to FC Barcelona, although other clubs are said to be interested in the forward. There would be a bid from Saudi Arabia with which Messi, with an annual salary of 400 million euros, can become the highest-paid footballer ever. David Beckham’s Inter Miami would also still be interested in Messi, although the forward would not be able to receive a massive salary with a transfer to Major League Soccer.
