Mauricio Pochettino is expected to be appointed as the new manager of Chelsea within the next few weeks. The Argentinian is reportedly already working on his squad for next season and according to talkSPORT he has made contact with one of his former Tottenham Hotspur players. Pochettino would be dreaming of a renewed partnership with England captain Harry Kane, who’s he kept a good relationship with since leaving Spurs.
Rumours of Kane leaving Tottenham have been intensifying over the past couple of weeks. The London club are looking to miss out on European football all together after a disastrous 94th minute 4-3 loss to Liverpool on Sunday. Spurs’ poor season would be the definitive straw for Kane to move elsewhere and interest in the services of the forward is very high. Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and now Chelsea have all been put forward as interested clubs.
Next to Kane, Pochettino is ready to splash the cash in several other Premier League stars, including Brentford’s David Raya and Ivan Toney. It is believed that Pochettino wants full control of transfers at Chelsea if he is to join next season and that is reportedly the biggest reason an official announcement has not been made. Negotiations between Pochettino and Chelsea are therefore continuing as both parties hope to reach an agreement soon.
