The Qatari investors that want to buy Manchester United are ready to spend big once the takeover is complete. The Daily Mail suggest that Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim wants to buy Kylian Mbappe if he manages to buy United.
What’s the news?
Man United are currently in the process of a takeover. The Glazer family have accepted that they will be selling the club in the forseeable future and at this point there are two parties that could buy United. Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani and British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe are the two frontrunners if the Glazers sell. One of the dream signings of the Qatari’s would be to bring Mbappe to Manchester and they could be prepared to break the world record transfer fee to bring in the French forward.
The Background
Mbappe was long linked to a move away from Paris Saint-Germain, but the French forward surprised friend and foe to prefer a extended stay in Paris ahead of a move to Real Madrid. However, his current deal in Paris will run out in 2024 and it seems likely that Mbappe will not be signing another contract extension. This makes a transfer this summer or possibly in the summer of 2024 more likely than ever.
Other rumours
The Daily Mail has also linked several other players to Man United if the club falls into Qatari hands. Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman and Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga are high on the shortlist of the possible new owners of Man United. At the moment, the future of Red Devils is uncertain and we will have to wait to find out who will be the new owner in the next few weeks.
