Madrid have released an official statement on their website, confirming that Benzema will be leaving the club at the end of June. The forward and club had been in talks over a possible renewal, but with the confirmation of his departure it can be confirmed that talks have not led to a new contract.
The backstory
Benzema joined Madrid in 2009 from Olympique Lyon and in the Spanish capital the forward developed himself into one of the best strikers in the world. At first he was a second man behind Cristiano Ronaldo, but after the Portugal international left Benzema became the leading man for Madrid. During his time at Madrid Benzema won 5 Champions League titles and five LaLiga titles.

It is expected that Benzema will continue his career in Saudi Arabia. The French forward has received a massive contract offer worth around 200 million per season. An announcement of Benzema moving to the Middle-East could be pushed as quick as next week.
