AS Roma are very confident that they are able to beat several Premier League teams in their hunt for Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka.
- Roma confident to sign Ndicka
- Premier League clubs also interested
- Romans aim to reach Europa League final
What is the news?
The left-footed central defender has impressed playing for Frankfurt and that has attracted the interest of several of Europe’s top clubs, especially since the defender is available on a free transfer. A report by 90min suggests that Roma have already made contact with Ndicka and his representatives and that the Italians are confident of wrapping up a deal for the defender within the next few weeks.
The backstory
Ndicka joined Frankfurt from AJ Auxerre in 2018 and in five seasons the French defender managed to reach 180 appearances for the Bundesliga side. Frankfurt has been trying to have Ndicka signing a new contract but the central defender is pushing for a free transfer. FC Barcelona have shown interest in Ndicka, but the Spaniards have cooled their interest. Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Manchester City have also been linked with Ndicka in recent weeks.
What next for Roma?
With a current sixth league position in the Serie A, the Romans look to miss out on the Champions League next season. The club is – however – still in contention for the Europa League final and if the Romans win the European tournament, they will secure a ticket for next seasons Champions League group stage. Jose Mourinho’s side currently hold a 1-0 lead over Bayer Leverkusen and travel to Germany this Thursday for the return.
