NewsTottenham Hotspur planning to sack Stellini and appoint Nagelsmann

Julian Nagelsmann could be appointed as the new Tottenham Hotspur boss this week, claims 90min. The German rejected an approach by Chelsea earlier as The Blues’ plans weren’t in line with Nagelsmann’s view on football. Since then he has been in talks with Tottenham about a potential manager role from next season, though it might even be possible that Nagelsmann will be appointed this week.

At this point Tottenham’s board are discussing the future of caretaker boss Christian Stellini, who replaced Antonio Conte last month. Under the Italian Tottenham have not been impressing and their 6-1 slump to Newcastle United on Sunday might be the final straw for Spurs chairman Daniel Levy. Stellini could be sacked soon and if the Italian is relieve of his job, Nagelsmann would be the leading candidate to take over.

After failing to reach an agreement with Chelsea, it is believed that Nagelsmann’s representatives have reached out to Spurs on their own, expressing their interest in a meeting with the club to hear their future plans. However, Tottenham are not hasting their choice for a new manager as the club wants to hold talks with several candidates before making a final decision.

Things, however, could speed up if Tottenham decide to sack Stellini this week. The club has a shortlist of possible managers and Nagelsmann was already on that list. Luis Enrique, who also spoke with Chelsea, is on the list and the same goes for Burnley’s Vincent Kompany and Feyenoord head coach Arne Slot.
