The Australian coach is now at the top of Tottenham’s wishlist after other candidates dropped out for various reasons.
Postecoglou has been under contract with Celtic since the summer of 2021 and has made an impression in Scotland. Despite the club’s long-standing dominance in the league, the team plays creative and attacking football under the current manager, impressing with its style of play. Celtic has already been crowned champions of Scotland and has scored an impressive 114 goals in 38 matches.
What more for Spurs?
For Tottenham, the hope is that Postecoglou will accept the offer. Previously, the club had discussions with Luis Enrique, Julian Nagelsmann, and Arne Slot, among others. Former manager Mauricio Pochettino was also briefly on Spurs’ list, but the Argentinian signed a multi-year contract with local rivals Chelsea last week.
The talks between Tottenham and Postecoglou are scheduled for next week. Before that, the Australian will try to win the Scottish Cup. Celtic will play against Inverness, a team from a lower division, in their home stadium on Saturday in what is an unexpectedly reached final.
